Flawless Smiles. Built on Function.
At Dentistry of Uptown Charlotte, veneers are not just about improving appearance, they are carefully designed to enhance both aesthetics and long-term function.
Porcelain veneers are ultra-thin restorations bonded to the front surfaces of the teeth to refine shape, color, and symmetry. While porcelain is the most commonly recommended material for its aesthetics and durability, alternative options may be considered based on your specific goals and clinical needs. Each case is thoughtfully planned to ensure your smile not only looks natural, but also functions comfortably and predictably over time.
We take a comprehensive approach, evaluating your bite, tooth structure, and overall oral health before recommending veneers. This allows us to create results that are not only beautiful, but also stable and long-lasting.
How Are Veneers Applied?
Veneers are completed through a carefully planned, multi-step process designed to ensure both aesthetic excellence and long-term function.
Treatment begins with a comprehensive consultation, where we evaluate your smile, bite, and overall oral health. Digital imaging and radiographs are used to guide treatment planning and determine whether veneers are the most appropriate option for your case.
If veneers are recommended, the teeth are conservatively prepared by removing a minimal amount of enamel. This allows for proper fit, natural contours, and long-term stability. Digital impressions are then taken and used to design your custom restorations with a high level of precision.
Your veneers are fabricated either in a dental laboratory or, in select cases, using our in-office CEREC technology. Once ready, each veneer is carefully evaluated for fit, shape, and color before final placement.
The teeth are then cleaned and prepared for bonding. A specialized adhesive protocol is used to securely bond the veneers, followed by light curing to ensure a strong, durable seal.
After placement, we fine-tune your bite and ensure everything feels natural and comfortable. A follow-up visit may be recommended to confirm long-term comfort and function.
What Type of Veneers Are Available?
- Porcelain Veneers: Ultra-thin ceramic restorations designed to closely mimic natural enamel. Known for their exceptional aesthetics, durability, and stain resistance, porcelain veneers are the most commonly recommended option for long-term results.
- Composite Resin: A more conservative option used to refine minor chips, spacing, or shape irregularities. While less durable than porcelain, it can be appropriate in specific situations.
- CEREC Veneers: Using advanced digital scanning and in-office milling, we are able to design and fabricate certain veneers with a high level of precision and efficiency. This technology allows for a more streamlined process in select cases, while still maintaining the quality, fit, and aesthetics expected from custom ceramic restorations.
A Thoughtful Evaluation Matters
Not every patient is an ideal candidate for veneers. In some cases, more conservative or function-focused treatments, such as Invisalign or bonding, may be recommended instead.
Our goal is to guide you toward the option that will provide the most predictable, natural, and long-lasting result.

Who is a Good Candidate for Veneers?
- Discoloration that does not respond to whitening
- Worn, chipped, or uneven teeth
- Minor spacing or shape irregularities
